FOR SALE
EVERYTHING ELSE, FILM, VIDEO, TECHNOLOGY

Hand to god, while my buddy and I were out riding bikes around my Mom’s neighborhood, we found this projector kicking it on the lawn of this seedy apartment complex. It’s a Bell & Howell 357B from the 70’s (I’m guessing..?). I don’t have any Super-8 film to test it out, but the bulb still lights up, and the motor still runs.. it’s only noticeable fault is that it’s missing it’s cover and reel (which apparently it was supposed to have). Here are some pictures I jacked from some dude on e-bay..

PROJECTOR
PROJECTOR, PT 2
and here is an auction for the same projector, listing info about the volts and other important crap. It is EXACTLY the same as both of those, just minus the cover and reel, as previously mentioned. Oh, and the serial number on mine is 1344085.

Cutting to the chase: I am offering this baby up for sale, as I have no real use for it (aside from gigantic paper weight or “cool looking thing to set drinks and books on”). So email me (punxishippys@gmail.com) with your best offer, or comment and leave your email address, and I’ll send you info on payment and pick-up and everything.

Oh, and unless you are willing to send an extra $25, you will have to come pick it up (or have someone pick it up and send it to you).. because $25 is how much shipping this 23lb beast will cost, and at the moment I don’t have any extra money. I’m really sorry about that, I REALLY wish I could ship this but I’m really broke at the moment.. I mean, shit, if I had the money, I would send it to fucking Istanbul or Mongolia or Uganda for whoever wanted to buy it (however, if I had the money, I probably wouldn’t be selling it in the first place).

DIY Composition
POINT OF INTEREST, MUSIC, PERFORMANCE, TECHNOLOGY

So I’ve been gettin more and more back into music over the past couple of years (and I’m sure this might confuse some of you) but I’ve been trying to marry my art and music making processes, and I think I’ve finally begun to get onto a decent middle ground. Here are some more steps that I am taking in that direction:

Creating “fake” bands via documentation (screenprints, t-shirts, demo tapes, bootleg live video, etc.)

Buying a modular synthesizer in 120 dollar increments from synthesizers.com (affordability and flexibility rule) so does this pic

baby clutched by the sound art hand of doom

I’ve also been pretty into freeware and “consumer” approaches to music, Here are some cool programs that I’ve come across

intua’s beatmaker for the iphone/ipod touch

this one is my personal favorite, and I’ve been using it a lot cuz its fun and easy to use

its kind of modelled after an akai mpc, there are velocity/touch sensitive pads, an onboard sequencer that makes it super easy to program
beats in time, real time record and the update I got a couple of weeks has a slew of other cool shtuff

its 20 bux but worth it (so not so freeware)

then theres a series of freeware by halcyon that’s pretty easy to use but fun and good for a laugh

check out their easy to use arpeggiator

or the drumatix modelled after the famous roland tr 808 drum machine that all those rappers love so much

there’s also gleetchlab which I haven’t used in a while, but it was built in max/msp/jitter and is a pretty easy to use sample player/editor, it doesn’t have sequencing capabilities, but its pretty fun to make noises on

until next time kiddies, peace love and a happy new year’d

VIDEO, TECHNOLOGY, THE INTERNET, A SPARKLE IN ONE'S EYE, CATS

Today marks the first day of a new weekly segment on the HOQ blog which I will be posting every tuesday. It will include an essay that I would some day like to write, followed by a Youtube video. Each week’s Youtube video will be a response to the video from the previous week.

One day, I will write:

Truth in a Post-Encyclopedia State

Now, here is a video of a Scottish Fold, possibly the cutest kind of cat, ever.

call for work!
ART, SCULPTURE/INSTALLATION, PERFORMANCE, SOUND, VIDEO, PHOTOGRAPHY, TECHNOLOGY, MEDIA(TION), BOSTON

Glance asks artists to examine what it is to be a member of a predominantly visual culture which experiences all reaches of the globe simultaniously, albeit through a lens or a fiber optic connection. The show would like to present to the struggle of existing in a personal space and also existing a digitally dispersed citizen of the globe. Where are the borders of privacy in the information age? Do you need or want them any more? What surverilance tools do you employ in order to experience any corner of the earth? What is a legitimate experience? The technology that most of us take for granted allows for any twinge of curiosity to be indulged fully, Glance would like to examine some of the pleasures that these new tools allow us.

We are asking for video, performance, sound, installation, photo, sculpture and 2-D work for submissions.
Digital work may be e-mailed for submission, physical work must be viewed, studio visits can be arranged.
Submissions will be accepted until July 7th

This show will be juried

Glance will be presented at the Butcher Shoppe @ 24 Armington St in beautiful Allston MA

Some of you might remember Tom Green, Canadian comedian, from The Tom Green Show, The Bum Bum Song, and battling testicular cancer.

Well, it turns out, he was part of a killer hip hop group in the early 90’s called Organized Rhyme.

He is the one in the red sweatshirt.
