ART, BOSTON, DOCUMENTATION, EVENTS, INSTALLATION, LOL, MEDIA(TION), PERFORMANCE, SCULPTURE, SPACE, THE INTERNET

I am proud to announce the first show to be held at the new MEME Gallery in Cambridge, Accumulation!

Accumulation (phase I) will provide an environment to witness the evolution of a space that has
been activated by accumulated creative action. Over the duration of this exhibition the 6 Boston-
based artists and curators of MEME will spontaneously create an evolving installation.
All evidence from these actions will remain in the space and each artist will be challenged with
how to interact with another’s remnants. Accumulation will challenge ideas about artist
collaboration while creating an innovative exhibition of performance art documentation.

Accumulation’s opening will be held on June 13th from 12-6pm. Because of the nature of this
exhibition, a closing, complete with a screening of video documentation of all occurrences in the
space will also be held on June 26th from 7-10pm.

Artists include:
Alice Vogler
Bradley Benedetti
Dirk Adams
Philip Fryer
Sandrine Schaefer
Vela Phelan

Located in Central Square, Cambridge, MEME will provide space for ephemeral art to be
made and witnessed. A tireless schedule of exhibitions, screenings, residencies and workshops
will bring together local, national and international artists. MEME’s goal is to provide
support for ideas that typically have a difficult time finding a place in the world. Keep an eye
out for local artists PRINCESSdie, GJYD, Rome’s Travis McCoy Fuller, and The Present
Tense’s Archive release event in the upcoming months!

“RetroDuo” … (((play that comforting music)))
A SPARKLE IN ONE'S EYE, BEER, BOSTON, EVENTS, LOL, TECHNOLOGY

I just bought this interesting take on the adjoining of two pieces of our childhoods into one shitty cheap little machine.

Of course it was made in China, and I thought I was getting a deal a time being while buying but prices online were less…
ugly uglier yeah, I don't like the mallmetal red/black scheme, sorry if you do.

I really want a beer right now. Oatmeal Stout would do it. (: So of course on impulse I went out and bought that “RetroDuo” thing 3 days ago after remembering my brother and I had a decent amount of (super)Nintendo games left lying around. So this machine can accept either original or super nes cartridges and has a switch to toggle between 8-bit or 16-bit. Thats pretty fuckin’ sweet! BUT, the directional pad (or whatever you call it) is really sticky. I can barely ever make Mario crotch down. I might just have to buy a new SNES controller, and another Super Metroid considering I left all of my good video games at the Butcher Shop and they’ll never mail them to me. (Russ mail me my package and my w-2 !!!)

And so I’m just drinking coffee and playing Super Mario Bros 3 getting really frustrated. (I was playing Super Mario Bros 2 but it was too hard)
this is making me really frustrated
That is my least favorite enemy.

And I’m coming up to Boston for Ian’s performance event he is hosting. just to tell you all.

what?! mmm

I like homedepot yep.

Remember. To. Believe.
EVENTS, PERFORMANCE, PROJECT

Now, I have finally crafted the call for work for the second show (yes, I am calling it second, because missed connections ultimately became what it was meant to be by not happening at all) and I am looking for sweet, sweet submissions. The only stipulations are that I am looking for a night of believers (or those who question their beliefs) who will passionately display/produce/examine those passions.

This is a time to find out what it is you believe in, to articulate (visually and blatently) why you believe (in your work?).

So. I await.

and ps, here is the crafted document:

CALL FOR WORK

Rants and Reciprocal Raves.

Part II of the Craigslist Cultural Exchange Series.

A one night show of performances dealing with beliefs, lack of
beliefs, passions and truths or post-truths in today’s society.

To have a rant or rave, usually you believe in something strongly.
What do you believe? Can you believe today? Can you believe in the
present? If not, can you still find something to rant and/or rave
about?

Please submit a detailed statement of proposed piece, duration
(including setup and cleanup), requirements (technical or otherwise),
contact information (email and phone), and photos or a brief video if
desired.

Show: January 18, 2008, Grand St. stop L train, Brooklyn NY.
Submissions Due:  January 3, 2008, simogos@gmail.com
Participants Notified: January 10

So, here’s a few things
BEER, BIKES, BOSTON, EVENTS, PARTYING, PERFORMANCE

FRIDAY, MAY 2ND

was the one year anniversary of the House Of Quality!

I think as a present to the blog, you guys should post more, because it summer and I know ya’ll are doin nothing but drinking beer and riding your bicycle to tedeschi to buy ice cream or something, and if you’re working, nowhere does enough business over the summer to keep you there more than 40 hours a week. and school is over. I’ll give you a 2 week grace period because I love you.

So, as I am in the mood for a blog rant type of deal now, I’d like to say a few things.

#1
Lately, I have been thinking: No matter how obnoxious the rise of bicycles and accompanying fashion and aerospokes and anodized sugino cranks that match your chris king headseat blah blah are you can’t argue with the fact that there is NOTHING bad about riding a bicycle. Even if it is an obnoxious trend at this point, I am honestly just glad that people are so into riding bikes.

It’s like, nobody likes all that rediculous party time lets take digital pictures of a party we don’t care about thing, but I can’t see any argument about the importance of the decadance of youth culture. Young people are supposed to do that kind of stuff because it gets hard to do when you’re old. Just my angle, not all my agree.

Nobody really likes dance clubs but there has never been anything shitty about dancing.

#2

Performance event at mobius!
Featuring students from the SMFA. at 725 Harrison Ave., Boston, MA
Friday may 9th and sat may 10th.

That’s all, I lost a little bit of steam.
